The Ice House
Michael Gaudreau
$350.00
Dimensions: 12 x 12
Media: oil on birch panel
Artist Statement : This is a plein air piece of a small ice house surrounded by white azaleas When I look for subjects to paint, I am drawn to and seek out that “moment of light”- the quality of light in the early morning and dusk that illuminates and transforms ordinary things like rocks or buildings, turning them into something extraordinary. I also am captivated by bursts of color in the landscape that often seem to present themselves, like a gift, and try to incorporate that same element of surprise in my painting. Hopefully, the energy and emotion I feel when painting is expressed through the layering of colors and my mark-making.
Sky Infected
Karen Harris
$150.00
Dimensions: 12 x 12 x 1
Media: Paper photo print
Artist Statement : One day I looked up and the sky looked to be on fire. To capture the moment because it was so striking and somewhat inspirational, and just in case it spread to the earth and there was no record of why the earth caught fire I took a photo of it.
Pink and Blue
Marilyn Lowney Johnson
$225.00
Dimensions: 8 x 8 x 1
Media: Photo shows Philadelphia Mummers after the annual parade. It’s a modified digital photo on fine art paper, signed on front, limited edition. Unframed photo is 5” x 5” in an 8” x 8” frame with museum quality glass.
Artist Statement : In Tales of a Consulting Detective, Sherlock Holmes said: “You see, but you do not observe. The distinction is clear.” I take my camera out. I may choose a subject; I may think “that would make a great picture”; I may visit a new place or one I’ve seen before. I want to observe and to present things in a way that causes the viewer to stop and observe. We have the technology to immediately capture whatever is in front of us. The challenge is for people to slow down; to question whether there is only one way to look at something; and to search for new meaning in something they may have seen before.
L.ah.fonts
Mike Kolitsky
$150.00
Dimensions: 9.5 x 9.5 x 1
Media: digital image
Artist Statement : Title plays with close-up photo of my right hand facing my left hand with thumbs positioned under the index finger which explores how old skin and wrinkles on the artist's hands presents an imaginary side view of head and trunk of two elephants facing each other hence the title "L.ah.fonts".
Il Pellicano
Cristine Kuckelman
$350.00
Dimensions: 11.5 x 11.5 x 2
Media: Textured acrylic on canvas
Artist Statement : As an emerging abstract painter living and working outside of Washington, D.C. in Potomac, Maryland, I use nature as a vehicle for my creativity. I believe art should be tactile - drawing the collector into the piece itself in order to evoke an exchange of feelings and memories. In this case, "Il Pellicano" is a textural homage to the pelican -- an animal who knows how to assess an opportunity when they see one. They find a perch where they can observe with intent and patience -- waiting for the exact right moment to catch their food. As the pelican in this painting sits upon his perch, he is astutely observing the world around us; a lesson we could all learn from in life's often frantic pace.
Lost Melodies
Angelique Luro
$425.00
Dimensions: 12 x 12 x 1
Media: Acrylic on art board, 12x12x3/4"
Artist Statement : "Lost Melodies" was inspired by the music that touches my soul, perhaps a song that rekindles a fond memory or a sad chapter in my story. When I hear those first notes there is an instantaneous stirring in my heart. I listen to music as I paint, it is an integral part of my practice. There are times when a song touches me so deeply the piece I am working on takes on the lyrics and the lyrics become the art.
Kookaburra
Dave Mann
$200.00
Dimensions: 12 x 12 x 1
Media: intaglio etching print on handmade archival paper
Artist Statement : Any Queensland child can tell you that much of the outback is rain forest rather than desert and is often relatively cold but can be friendly to people that respect it. Jennifer is discussing a dropped snag with a Kookaburra in the bush.
